Which AWS Certification should I choose?

Foundation AWS Certification

Choosing the right AWS Certification for you depends entirely on your previous experience of the platform. Those with little or no AWS knowledge would probably be best advised to start out with the new AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. Completing this course leaves individuals with an overall understanding of the AWS Cloud and provides a solid base from which they can attempt more difficult exams in the future.

Associate AWS Certification

IT professionals with at least some AWS experience often decide to obtain their first certification by sitting the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate exam. Amazon have designed this course for IT professionals who are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively demonstrate how to design distributed systems on AWS.

Course content focuses on core AWS services such as Identity and Access Management (IAM), Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), S3 and EC2. Candidates are consequently left with a good understanding of AWS in terms of its approach to security, networking, data storage, and compute capability.
